Durham – Visit all 48 English counties

I’d like to eventually be able to say I have visited all 48 counties England has. Not just drive through but spend some time, do at least one thing in each county. I don’t intend to do one mega trip crossing places off… My bank account simply won’t allow for that. So my idea is to slowly cross the counties off and blog about each county/what I got up to. If you have any recommendations of things I simply must do in a specific place please let me know!!!

So over the Christmas holidays we did a little road trip to County Durham. I feel, (like always) this county has a zillion things I would like to do. As always time didn’t allow us to do enough. In fact we pretty much only did one thing…. We visit Beamish Museum.

We arrived just as it was opening and left just as it was closing so we did make the most of the day, would you believe that we didn’t even get to do the entire place! Luckily when you go to Beamish you get a years worth of entry with your entrance ticket. So we will be going back! As it was Christmas time we had a visit with Santa, enjoyed some fake snow, hot chocolate, christmas carols, and reindeer’s! The whole place has such a lovely vibe about it! Not only did the kids learn a lot but us adults learned a thing or two! We rode on 2 old school trains, trams, buses, went into the volts of an old bank, played in an old school and so much more.

Interestingly enough one of my old friends from Holland who now lives in the UK message me and told me the old school at Beamish was her childhood school! Makes it that much more magical knowing someone who used to go to school there!
